Argenta TEC is directed by Dr. Brent O’Connell, the former Vice President & Medical Director of Highmark® BlueCross BlueShield, former Chair of the BlueCross BlueShield Association’s (BCBSA) Medical Policy Panel, and member of BCBSA’s Technology Evaluation Center’s Medical Advisory Panel. He was also a member of the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee (MedCAC).
Argenta TEC facilitates the coverage process for medical technologies by providing critical insights into the technology assessment process and assistance with coverage challenges. Argenta TEC provides access to over 75 payer medical directors from all types of health plans. This access can range from phone calls and written feedback on clinical trial design, for example, to more formal payer medical advisory boards. These Medical Director Advisory Boards, which serve to educate payers, assess their positions, review clinical trial design/outcomes, and/or evaluate potential marketing approaches, typically include the following:
- Planned and facilitated by Dr. O’Connell
- Conducted in-person for a half day, fully day, or over two days, typically in a central US location
- Composed of as many payer medical directors and/or pharmacy directors as needed
